Hi, I am Joe Manno, Pastor of Orlando Family Church in Orlando, Florida. Welcome to God Today. I wanted to talk to you really quickly about a psalm, one of my favorite psalms, Psalm 37. If you don’t mind, let me just read this really quickly for you. Starting with verse 3, it says, “Trust in the Lord and do good. Dwell on the land and enjoy safe pasture. Tae delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him and He will do this. He will make your righteous shine like the dawn and vindication like the new day sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Do no fret when people succeed in their ways and when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
I could preach on that for a very long time, but I want to take on 4 words here: trust, commit, desire, and then wait. Think about this. Trust in the Lord, that’s number one. Just trust in Him. You have to commit your ways to Him. You can’t just say, “I love you, Lord.” And then do whatever you want. Literally commit your ways to Him. Even if you can’t, say, “Lord, help me to commit to you.” Desire the Lord. He says, “Trust the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” You have to desire Him. What does desire mean? It means to make yourself pliable. Let Him mold you the way He wants to mold you, rather than you molding yourself. It is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole – it doesn’t work. Lord, shape me however you want.
Wait on the Lord. The word “wait” blows me away. It means, literally, to become dumb before the Lord. Or to be still means still wait to become dumb – not stupid. There is a difference between dumb and stupid. Become dumb. In other words, God says, “Come before me with no agenda, without you trying to figure out your life, and if you just trust me, and if you just commit to me, I will give you the desires of your heart.” Not your flesh. The desires of your flesh mess you up. The desires of your heart gives you things you never even knew you wanted but they are everything that life is all about.
Trust in Him. Commit to Him. Desire Him. And then just wait. Watch what He does. Father, in Jesus’s name, give them patience to wait, give them patience to trust and desire, and let them see the glory of God. Because you are going to have an amazing day, you are going to have an amazing life. That is what He put you in this earth for. Get out there, you are going to make a difference. God bless you. Love you all.
