Destiny Vs. History

Transcript

Hello, my friends.  I am Troy Brewer. I am the Senior Pastor of Open Door Church in Burleson, Texas.  Welcome to God Today. The goodness of God is not just seen in the past. It is a calling, actually, from the future.  People that fight for what “can be”, they understand that God says their destiny is much greater than their history. I want to speak that over your life.  Your destiny is much greater than your history.

My friend, fear of the future and a fascination of the past – those are the enemies of your upgrade.  It was the same way back in Jesus’ day. He saw the religious folks of His generation and He called it like He saw it.  He said this, “You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life. These are they which testify of me.  But, you are not willing to come to me that you might have eternal life.” That’s John 5. In other words, Jesus said, “Man, are willing to know the scriptures of things long ago, but you are not willing to know me right now.”  They knew the Word, but they wouldn’t move forward to relationship with Him as the Word was trying to bring them to.

Is that you?  Sadly, you have settled for history and you have given up upon your destiny.  You know the scriptures, but you have no experience with God. You have settled for revelation without accepting the invitation or personally encountering the One the Word is talking about.  In short, something has derailed you and you just won’t move forward. That is all changing. All that is changing for you right now.

The religious leaders of Jesus’ day did not recognize Him because He was not working in the same place, working the same method, and saying the same things.  See, they always joined for the good old days and they wouldn’t move forward. It cost them everything. That’s not you. Your destiny is greater than your history.  You’re not afraid to go for it. Today is a very good day to have a great respect for scripture, but a higher value for the One who wrote the scriptures – the author of the Word of God.  Go after the heart of King Jesus in the presence of the Father God Himself. Start today. Your destiny is awaiting.

I am going to pray that every single one of us today would be people going after an encounter with King Jesus Himself.  Ready? Here we go. Father, I thank you Lord God, sir, that if we seek you, we know, God, we will find you. Father, right now God, we want to open up our hearts to you.  Father, we declare this day belongs to you. Our minds, our hearts, everything within us, Lord, God, sir, it all belongs to you, God. We hand it all over to you, right here, right now, King Jesus, we will not settle for the things of the past and we will not be afraid of our future.  We have you right now. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Hallelujah! Ok, my friends, this is all the time we have for today. Keep in going after king Jesus. I am Troy Brewer. I call you the head and not the tail, above and beneath, and highly favored of the Lord. Bye, bye.
