Hi, I am Quentin Harrup, an evangelist, and you are watching God Today. I wanted to encourage you today, from a passage in Philippians 4:6-7. It says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” And it says, “The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will God your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
I relate to this scripture very personally because I had a close experience where this exact scripture was proven in my life. My first time, when I evangelized in Africa, I was very inexperienced, I didn’t know anything about the culture, about international travel, and so I went there with little to no understanding of what I had gotten myself into. At the time, I was very nervous, I was very stressed, I was sleep-deprived, I was nauseous. Everything was going against me, everything was going wrong.
So I was seconds away from going up to grab the microphone to preach the Gospel and everything, every fiber of my being didn’t want to be there, I was afraid, I was nervous. I just started praying, “Lord, in your word you said if I trust in you, if I don’t lean on my own understanding, if I make my requests to you, then the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard my heart and my mind. That is what you said in your scriptures, Lord. So I am going to stand on your word and believe it.”
Sure enough, I went up there. And I prayed. I prayed the Lord would give me His peace. And sure enough, the very second I grabbed that microphone, the peace of Christ flooded me. I wasn’t nervous, I wasn’t afraid, I wasn’t sick, I wasn’t tired. But I was on fire and ready to preach the Gospel. From personal experience, I can tell you that this prayer works. It works, the peace of Christ works. If there is a situation in your life where you’re nervous, or you are afraid or you are unsure, or you are worried, or anxious, or anything. Just pray that the Lord would fill you with that peace that surpasses all understanding.
I want to pray for you now. Lord, I pray in Jesus’ name that you would make this scripture trust in their lives and you would fill them, Lord, with the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit that is your peace, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen. I am Quentin Harrup and you are watching God Today.
