I am Robert Hotchkin, founder of Men On The Frontlines, and I want to welcome you to God Today. I have a word of encouragement for you. We have all heard the teaching in Matthew 16, where Jesus says to Peter when he hears He is Messiah, “This is the foundation I will build my Church on.” We tend to think that just knowing Jesus as Messiah is the foundation. But there is a whole deeper level of meaning there.
Jesus starts out by saying, “Who do you say I am?” And they say, “Some say you are Jeremiah, some say you are Elijah, some say you are this prophet, some say you are this prophet.” Jesus ignores what the world is saying about Him. Then Jesus asks Peter, “Who do YOU say I am?” And Simon says, “You are the Messiah.” And He says, “Well, done, Simon son of Jonah. Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, the world did not reveal this to you, or your circumstances did not reveal this to you, but my Father in Heaven. And upon this rock, I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail.”
Right now, we can look around the world and we can see some darkness here and there. We can see some deep darkness in other places, but you know what our key is? The foundation Jesus wants to build us, His Church up in right now? Listening to what the Father in Heaven says. Not what the world is saying. We need to be aware of what is going on in the world so we can pray strategically, but I want to encourage you in this season.
Spend time listening to what your Father in Heaven says about what is going on in the world. Don’t just listen to FOX, don’t just listen to MSNBC or CNN. But after you have done that and you see what is going on in the world, listen to what your Father in heaven is saying about it. His perspective, His strategies…He wants to use you as a part of His solution in those things. Because if we listen to what our Father in Heaven is saying about what the world is going through, He will give us the strategies, He will give us the prayers, He will give us the solutions that you can express. There is no gate of hell that will prevail. Never be discouraged if you see the enemy establishing a stronghold in the earth. Listen to your Heavenly Father. He has a strategy that will turn you into a solution and the gates of hell will not prevail.
