Hi, I’m Kelsey Morris with Together In The Harvest Ministries and you’re watching God Today. I want to talk to you about something called “the Father’s heart”. Now, we all have heard about God as the Father. You have heard that, maybe your whole life, or maybe you are a baby Christian and you’re just now hearing that God is your Father. I want to talk to you today about something that is very interesting that I’ve found in scripture not too long ago – just a few months ago – in Luke 2:49. This is interesting because this is the first time we ever hear Jesus actually talking about God. And this is the first time we have ever really heard of Jesus’s words. You’ve heard about “the words in red”, this is the first scripture of the “words in red”.
It’s Jesus as a young boy, His parents can’t find Him and they finally find Him in the temple. They are like, “What have you done, Jesus? Why have you left us?” All of that stuff. He says, “What were you searching for me?” He asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” Now listen to this. I know that we have heard about God as our creator, our restorer, our healer, all of these things. But, Jesus introduced us to God for the first time ever as our Father. He called Him our Father first.
Growing up my wake-up call was my Dad praying and contending downstairs in the living room. Every morning at 5:00 am my little 4 or 5-year-old self would run out of my room and I’d look downstairs and I’d hear my Dad saying, “I love you, Jesus, I love you, God.” I heard my father’s cry. I loved my father and that was my introduction to my Father. He loved Jesus and he could love me. But, I wanted to tell you today that God loves you as a father first. As your Father first. Don’t look at Him as the one who judges you, condemns you, all those things. Look at Him as a Father first. Your relationship with Him will be glorious, it will be beautiful.
Maybe you’ve never had a dad. Maybe you have had a dad and lost him. I don’t know what your circumstance is. I want to pray over you that you can meet God as your Father. Lord, I thank you for every person watching this. I pray, Lord, that You would reveal to all the people that You love that You’re a Father first. That You love them like Your own child because they are Your children. Lord, I thank You. We glorify You that You are our Father. In Your Holy, precious name. Amen.
