So often we forget that when we're in bondage that it really comes down to just a lack of knowing the truth.

Welcome to God today. My name is Brittany Thompson, and I’m one of the contributors here at GOD TV and Relentless Woman. I’m so glad you’re joining me today. Thank you for being here today. I want to talk about freedom and I remember the moment that God gave me this revelation.

I was driving down the road, minding my own business and the Holy Spirit interrupted all my thoughts. and all of a sudden I was having this moment with the Lord while driving down the road. Thank goodness that I had my eyes open. We were safe. That’s totally fine. But I just wanted to share this with you because I felt like it would impact your life and I hope that it encourages you.

The Lord asked me, “When you think about freedom, what do you think of?” And I said, “Well, obviously struggling through to get through some bondage, you know, like freedom comes after you break the bondage” and the Lord said, “Can I adjust your perspective on that?” And I was like, “Sure.” You know, I just let the Lord do His thing, right?!

Sometimes there can be this intimidation with letting God bring us truth in moments because we know that it’s going to require a change in thought and it’s going to require a change in action from us. The Lord dropped this verse on me while I was driving and I had to look it up later. I’m going to read it off of my iPad right now so I don’t mess it up for you, but He said to me, um, are you told me to look up John 8 verse 31. It says, “To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, if you hold to my teaching, you’re really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

So often we forget that when we’re in bondage that it really comes down to just a lack of knowing the truth. When we don’t know the truth, that gets a little awkward because we’re locked in a lie. We’re locked in a moment or a thought pattern that keeps us where we’re at instead of pushing us towards who God has called us to be. As I began to dive into the scripture a little bit more, let me read you another verse. Okay. so the Lord began to tell me out of John 14 verse six, “Jesus answered. I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.”

That my friends was a revelation because rather than looking at truth as the definition of a true circumstantial situational thing, that changes and is a moving target constantly, the Lord set the standard of truth as Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, the person is the truth. And that truth of Jesus Christ is the thing that sets us free from our bondage, what?! That’ll preach, right? That’s exactly what I thought when the Lord began sharing these thoughts with me.

Then I began to realize that there were so many places in my life where the thing that I believed didn’t line up with the person of Jesus. When it doesn’t line up with the person of Jesus is probably not the truth. That is how we know that we need to adjust our mindset. We need to adjust our belief system to line up perfectly with the person of who Jesus is because He is the way the truth and the life.

I want to pray over you today because I know you’re getting ready to go through your day or maybe you’re ending your day and you need a little bit of encouragement. You need a reminder of where Jesus is in your life. Jesus, I thank You for today. I thank You that You are showing us where You’re at and because You’re showing us where You’re at, we’re able to see the truth clearly. I thank You that You are right now, breaking off bondage. You’re breaking off addiction and You’re bringing us into the fullness of who You have called us to be. Thank You for never leaving us where we’re at, but always pushing us toward Your Kingdom and drawing us closer into Your arms, in Jesus name.
