Hi, I am Sheila Booth-Alberstadt, the creator and founder of Maggie McNair’s World, and animation teaching children to know who they are in Christ. You are watching God Today.

Something that I’d like to share that has really been on my heart is something I share with a lot of new believers. There is a passage in 2 Corinthians 13:5, it speaks of us knowing how to test our faith. If you do not test your faith to see, “Am I truly a Christian? Am I truly saved?” You can’t go based on how you feel. It has to be based on what the Word says. A great place you can examine your faith is by reading 1 John. Right there will tell you where you are at.

One of my favorite verses in 1 John is in chapter 2, about, “Do not love this world nor the things in this world, for all the cravings and pleasures are not of this world. Therefore, the Father is not in you.” That is something so important for us to remember. We cannot love the world, the things in this world, the materialistic things. Worrying about our jobs, and our houses, and our stuff, and furniture, and all the things that come with it. They have become idolatry. We really have to test our faith, know that we are in Jesus Christ because that is so important for us to live this out and walk it out for others to see so we can be that shining light and example.
