Hello folks. My name is Jim Evans, and such a pleasure to be with you again today. Today I want to talk to you some about authority and the authority we carry. One thing that as we minister and pastor, the one thing that we know is that a lot of folks just don’t understand the type of authority that they carry and what they walk in. Life could be so much different if we understood the authority that we actually carry and what we can exercise and what we can accomplish in the name of Jesus Christ.
You know, let me read a verse to you that I think is very, very important. It’s from Matthew 10:5-8. It says, “These twelve, Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and in no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the House of Israel and proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without pay; give without pay.”
Now, a lot of scholars would tell you that was just for the twelve, but look a little later on, he includes seventy. So what makes us think it was just for those eighty-two? I don’t believe it was. I don’t believe it was. I believe that it was for all of us. Later He says, John 14:12, “Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”
He didn’t say, “Listen, you 82, you will do greater works than me.” He said, “He that believes in me, he will do greater works than these.” Think about it, it’s mind boggling. Greater works than what Jesus did?! But you know what? A door won’t open unless you turn the door knob. Now, you can have an ATM card and have a million bucks in the bank, but unless you take that ATM card and you insert it in the ATM, you won’t get a dime of it. It’s the same with this principle. He gave it to us, but are we exercising it and are we using it?
You have authority, folks. Some of you have more authority than you realize, that you will only realize it by exercising it. Go heal the sick, and raise the dead, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
