Hi, I’m Billy Epperhart, welcome to God Today. I also have the privilege of being with Andrew Wommack Ministries and Charis Bible College. Today I have a word for you, here on God Today from the book of Jeremiah, chapter 52, and it says, “In the 37th year of the captivity of Jehoiachin, that Evil-merodach, king of Babylon, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin, king of Judah”, and the Bible says, “and showed favor to him and brought him out of prison. And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat above the seats of the kings who were captives with him in Babylon.” And then I like this part, it says, “And Jehoiachin put off his prison garments and he dined regularly at the king’s table all the days of his life. And his allowance”, I like that word, ‘his allowance’, “a continual one, was given to him by the king.”
You know, today I’m convinced, as you’re watching this on God Today, I’m convinced that God is no respecter of persons. And so, what He does, is He shows favor – the favor of God. The Bible says he reached down, here in this verse, in Jeremiah 52, and showed favor to Jehoiachin and lifted him up and put him above the other kings. And one day, when I was praying about that passage, the question I had was this, “Lord, how come there were other kings there and you reached down and showed favor to Jehoiachin?” I began to study the name “Jehoiachin” and it literally means preparation. For 37 years, evidently, Jehoiachin had been preparing, in his life, for this day.
I just want to encourage you today. Maybe everything you’re trying to do right now hasn’t been working. Maybe things you’ve thought about haven’t exactly caught traction or began to take hold the way like you would like to see it. I just want to encourage you today that God hasn’t forgotten you, that God is no respecter of persons, and if He’ll reach one down and pick him up, He will reach down and pick you up.
So today, let me pray for you and encourage you as we talk about the favor of God. God is no respecter of persons, He shows His favor to one, He’ll show it to the other.
Father, this morning, right now, I thank you as we pray that you’ll reach down and show favor to those you’ve already shown your favor, but, God, specifically today as you reach down and touch their lives. Help them, encourage them, give them vision, give them insight, and let your favor be expressed in their lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
