My name is Fergus Scarfe and welcome to this edition of God Today. Psalm 91 is one of those great, protection psalms, filled with promises, filled with goodness, filled with real awe and encouragement in the midst of the pain of life. At the end of Psalm 91, the Lord makes an extraordinary promise to those that love His name. You and I, the lovers of Jesus.
Verse 14 says, “Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him. I’ll set him on high because he has known my name. He shall call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.” In nearly 30 years following Jesus, the Lord has been faithful to that promise in my life. He is good today because we set our love upon Him today. He will show us His salvation.
Let’s pray. Father, in the name of Jesus, no matter what circumstance we face today, you have given us a promise in your word. As we set our love upon you, you will deliver us, you will be with us in time of trouble. You will protect us, and with long life you will show us your salvation. Father, I pray for my precious brother, I pray for my precious sister today, that you will shine your live, your grace, your mercy, and your protection on them. This will be the day that you have made and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Jesus gave His life for you today. God is on our side.
