Beloved, I’m Dr. Mark Chironna, and welcome to God Today. I love the words of David. He wrote 76 of the 150 Psalms. One of the most quoted verses from David’s Psalms is Psalm 37:4, where he says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Begin your day, today, delighting in God. Give Him the first of your day with delight. Rejoice in Him. Celebrate His goodness. Because He indeed is a good God. Let your heart be settled and rested in the safety of His perfect love. The reason you can move forward in confidence is because He is not only with you – He is in you. He is not only in you – He is for you. Because He is for you – He wants to give you the desires of your heart.
That word “desire” in the Hebrew is also something in the Latin vulgar translation that is “powerful desire”. It means “something is missing”. If something is missing, it has to exist. Something has to exist if you’re going to miss it. I want you to step in this morning to what’s missing that you long for. Because it is a hint and a preview of coming attractions. As you delight yourself in the Lord, He is going to give you what is missing that you long for – because it exists. That desire is going to lead you on a path to the fulfillment of what the desire is for. I dare you to believe that the God who gives good gifts to His children because they ask, that when you delight in Him, He wants to give you what is missing. Remember, if it is missing, it has to exist. Your desire is the preview of that coming attraction.
Father, I pray that as your sons and daughters delight in you, they would know that the things they long for and yearn for that are currently missing, are a preview that you want them to realize. Not only do they exist, but you are going to give them to them that their joy might overflow. In Jesus’ name.
