Hi, this is Matt Sorger with Matt Sorger Ministries, welcome to God Today. You know, maybe you have said, “Jesus, you are my Lord and Savior”, and you are saved. You are a born-again Christian. But do you really know what it means to be a new creation in Christ? We use these phrases. I am a new creation in Christ. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new Yet, you still struggle with some area of your life. You are still working through something or you have not been perfected yet. But, yet, the Bible says you are a new creation. Old things have passed away and all things have become new. Do we really understand what the depth of that means?

I remember one time I was in worship and the Lord brought me into a vision while I was in worship. I want to share it with you today because it is going to give you an insight into what it really means to be a new creation.

I remember, in my vision, I see the moment where Mary has an encounter with the angel. He basically says to her how she is going to be the mother of the Son of God. I see where the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and Christ is formed on the inside of her. She eventually gives birth to Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The one who would save the world from their sins.

Then, my vision shifts, and I see myself as a teenager when I am getting saved. I am giving my heart to Jesus and I am getting filled with the Holy Spirit. The Lord magnifies my vision in this encounter where I am becoming a new creation. I saw something I never saw before. I had heard the phrases and I had heard the teaching and the preaching on it. I am a new creation and I am born again. They were spiritual phrases, but I didn’t fully understand what they meant until I had this vision. Now I see myself getting saved. Really, I see myself getting filled with the Holy Spirit and becoming new as Jesus forgave my sin. I confess my sin, ask Jesus to forgive me. He washed me clean.

But, this is what took place. I see myself here, at salvation, getting filled with the Holy Spirit. Now, we hear the scripture where we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. I don’t know if you have thought of this, but I have thought, “Okay, my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Inside are my spirit man and my soul. Somewhere in there is the Holy Spirit. My body is the house, and the Holy Spirit must be the neighbor to my spirit. He is living in there somewhere. When I am really good he is there. When I am not so good He kind of leaves for a while and comes back later.” I had this image of how the Holy Spirit lived in me. Until God showed me it and I will share a scripture with you on it too.

So, I see the Holy Spirit filling me, but He is not just coming into my body somewhere. I see what I would call a double-helix. If you have any science background, I studied this before I went into ministry, in university in my biology class. The double-helix is the DNA molecule. It looks like a ladder that twists like this. It is two strands with rungs across and it spins like this. Well, I saw my spirit man as one side of the ladder. Then I saw the Holy Spirit come in as the other side. And I saw Him wrap around my human spirit. I saw the Holy Spirit wrap around my human spirit and the two, it looked like they were fusing together, creating something new, making me born-again. Making me a new creation and I thought, “God, what am I seeing? The Holy Spirit isn’t just coming into my body, but He is actually becoming one with me, making something new.”

Then I read the scripture in Corinthians, where it says, “Those who believe in the Lord become one spirit with Him.” Then a few scriptures down it says, “Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, but those who believe in Him become one spirit with Him.” I thought, “It’s been there, right in the scripture.” It is not that the Holy Spirit just lives inside of us somewhere. He becomes one spirit with us and then the Bible says, “We become partakers of the divine nature.”

What does it really mean to be a new creation? It means you really are a new creation. You are not the same as you were before. When the Holy Spirit comes into you, He becomes one with you, recreating you, and what is recreated? What is formed in you? Well, the apostle Paul teaches, “It is Christ in me, the hope of glory.”

So, what is formed in you when the Holy Spirit lives in you at salvation? Christ is formed in you. The nature of God is formed in you. That is why we become partakers of the divine nature. From inside of our spirit, we are made completely brand new. So, you are a new creation today. You have become a partaker of the divine nature of God. This is why you can overcome sin, it is why you can overcome sickness, it is why you can overcome every struggle in your life. Through the divine nature of God, that now lives on the inside of you. You really have been born again. It is not just a spiritual phrase. It is not just another way of saying, “I have faith in Jesus.” You have been born anew. By the person of the Holy Spirit, making you new…a new creation on the inside.

Go forward today. Live like that new creation. Remind yourself you are a new creation. And you have all the power of God on the inside of you to overcome all things in life and to be who God has called you to be. God bless you today. This is Matt Sorger and you are watching God Today.
