We turn our attention to the Spirit of truth and we allow Him to speak the truth. Once we get the truth, that is our weapon of righteousness.

I want to share with you a little bit about how to handle lies in your life, how to come out of agreement with lies that your heart believes. Romans 10:9 says, “it’s with the heart that we believe.”  Often those lies get formed through our experiences, specifically in childhood or teenage years. But, we don’t want to stay in a lie. In John 8:44 Jesus calls the enemy the father of lies. But fortunately we have the Spirit of truth. John 14:16-17, Jesus says to the disciples, “I will ask the Father and He will give you another advocate to be with you forever. And He is called the Spirit of truth.”  And then later on in John 16:13, Jesus says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will lead you into all truth.”

So wherever we have a lie, God has an amazing truth.  And in fact, the enemy comes to us with specific lies that he plants in our hearts and that we partner with. But Jesus counteracts that when we come into inner healing deliverance ministry, He counteracts it with a specific truth that we need to hear. And here’s an example. I had a really not very nice teacher in first and second grade. And as a result of the trauma that I experienced in school, I believe the lie that I was stupid for years. And in an inner healing ministry time, I recognized God revealed that lie. And so we sat together, we rejected the lie, and God showed me that the truth, the specific truth was not “you’re smart.”  You would think that would be the opposite of the lie, that I’m stupid. But God’s truth for me was you can do anything you want. And that’s the truth that was specific that I needed to hear.

So God has a specific truth for every lie that the enemy has tricked you with. So we can believe lies about God’s character or about ourselves. Those are the typical lies that the enemy sows. For example, if we grew up with feeling unworthy because of what was spoken over us, we can believe that when we come into God’s presence, we’re unworthy. So, one of the lies that I believe for years was I’m not wanted. And, there’s a measure of truth in that because when I was conceived by my parents, it was a difficult time in their marriage, a difficult time financially. So in essence, I wasn’t wanted. But the whole lie that I believed out of the enemy’s lie was that I wasn’t wanted at all. So the enemy can sow truth in there and it can feel very true. But God can reveal those lies as we allow Him to minister to our hearts.

So if we’re believe believing lies, how do we come out of alignment with them? First, God needs to reveal the lie, and He can do that in a quiet time or in an inner healing session. And once we see the lie, we actually just speak it out. “I reject that lie in the name of Jesus.”  And then when we’re in the presence of the Lord, we just simply ask God, “What is the truth? Show me the truth.”  And we turn our attention to the Spirit of truth and we allow Him to speak the truth. Once we get the truth, that is our weapon of righteousness. And we begin for 30 days, because a habit is formed between 21 and 30 days. We begin to ask God more about that truth and we allow Him to expand it in our hearts. Ask Him questions about it, ask Him for scriptures, and then we declare that truth. Though it won’t feel very true when we start to declare it, we declare it for 30 days, and by the end of 30 days, we have now built a habit of truth to replace that lie.

So Lord, thank you for this one. And I declare you are an overcomer. I just say the Lord calls you an overcomer and you are able. Lord, reveal any lies and bring them into your Spirit of truth and into their freedom in you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
