Welcome to today’s broadcast. Today we’re having a conversation around evangelism. Mitch, you’ve been doing evangelism for about 30 years now. Do you have any top tips that you would like to share with us about keys to evangelism?

Okay. Let me give you like my five top tips. Top best, five, top tips on evangelism. Number one actually comes from a great friend of mine, Tiff Shuttlesworth, and it says, “Start in the Bible, stay in the Bible, finish in the Bible.” There is something about the word of God. Billy Graham was so good at evangelism, because he always used this phrase: “The Bible says.”  Not all of us are gonna be Billy Grahams. Oftentimes our evangelism should be on a one-to-one setting, but never be ashamed of the word of God. Romans 1:16, Paul said, “I’m not ashamed of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, because it is the power of God unto salvation.”  Use the Bible.

Number two is this: be intentional about sharing your faith with others. The boldest and scariest prayer you can pray is one that simply says, “Lord, use me. Use me every day.”  Be intentional in your evangelism.

Number three: be authentic in your evangelism. Don’t try to be somebody else. I can’t be you. You don’t try to be me. None of us can be Billy Graham. So just be yourself in the situation that you’re in.

Number four is this: be Christ-centered in your evangelism. So make sure you don’t spend all of your time debating the dinosaurs or creation. Remember, it’s in the Name. We’re Christian, so make sure that Christ is the focal point.

And the fifth point is this: don’t feel that you have to be qualified under academic studies to be active in evangelism. To be a witness is just to share your story. This is my experience of what Jesus has done for me. He has set me free from sin, and He’s given me a hope and a peace and a future.

That’s brilliant, and it’s something that all of us can do. Not all of us are called to be evangelists, but we’re all called to go and to share our faith in whatever ways we can. And so it’s important for us to have the confidence to do that. So thanks for sharing those top tips, and I’d love to just pray for us as we bring this session to a close.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for your commission that tells us to go into the world and to preach the good news. And so Father, I pray for each one of us that you would equip us and you would strengthen us, and you would embolden us as we go out into the world bringing your good news, and may we see fruit from that. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
