You know, one of the most asked questions in Christianity is, “Why am I here?” It’s a question that each of us have asked at some period in our lives, and if we’re honest with ourselves, it’s something that we might ask a little more often, too.

Well, I’ve discovered a practical way to, instead of looking at the whole big picture and getting overwhelmed by that, just looking at the things that are in front of us each day. You know, you can take what’s in your hand today and bless the people in front of you. And the cool thing is, is that blesses God in the process.

So the other day, a friend of mine had just graduated from 13 years of study in classical piano and he’s become a doctor. Well, we had to get together and celebrate him, right? We are a group of South Africans and so I thought, Lord, how can I be a blessing to him today? And there’s a certain dessert that we make in South Africa that he absolutely loves. So, alright, I’m gonna make that. And then he loves to sit and journal with the Lord. So I got the group of friends together and we bought him a journal and a pen and we inscribed it with his new title. It was the most beautiful way to take what was in my hand, the thing that I could do, I have my mother-in-law’s recipe for the dessert, we could find a beautiful journal for him and all of us clubbed together. One of us bought the pen and had it engraved, and we all got together and blessed our friend with it.

And when I asked the question, “Lisa, why were you here that day?” I know that it’s because I took what was in my hand, the recipe my mother-in-law left me and I could make, and the gift of being able to organize people together to bring a blessing to my friend.

So ask yourself today and go on this adventure with the Lord and say to Him, “Lord, what do I have in my hand today that can be a blessing? That is something that only you and I can do?” You are unique and beautiful, and there’s something that you get to contribute to your world with Jesus today. Have fun.
