Breaking The Power Of Disappointment

God has something designated for the next season that's going to be so powerful.
Nathan & Lydia Marrow

Welcome to God Today with myself, Nathan, and Lydia Marrow. You know, so many times as we travel, we find people, almost locked down in disappointment. They have disappointment, they find,  they try and blame it on God that God’s not doing things according to what they believe. And so sometimes they can’t get out of that mindset. And I know Lydia has got a powerful revelation about getting out of the place of disappointment.

You know, I love the story of Samuel and Saul and Samuel and David. The whole thing was such an interesting process for this older prophet. He’s a man of God. He’s a prophet like we have no other frame of reference for in the word of God. The Bible literally says that none of Samuel’s words fell to the ground. Everything the man prophesied was spot on all the time. Would that God we’d have a generation of prophets raised up like that. But this man of God, when the Lord, when the people of Israel asked for a king, God was upset about the request for a king. But a lot of people will tell you that the people picked Saul out. That’s not true. God chose Saul. God said they want a king, that displeases me, but here is Saul son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin. He is the man. Anoint this boy to be the king.

So Samuel goes and anoints Saul, well, it is a disaster. He starts off well, but it doesn’t take Saul long to make a mess of things because he prioritized himself. He started off well, but then he started to strut. We’ve seen this over and over in the Kingdom of God, someone starts off with an anointing. They start off with a calling, but the longer that they walk in that place, they cannot handle it because their character is not sufficient to keep them in that position, and they blow it.  The Bible even tells us that Saul was setting up statues to himself. He was just full of pride. And we know that ultimately he disobeyed the command of the Lord to destroy the Amalekites. And God said, I’m going to rip the kingdom right out of your hand. In that moment of disappointment, the Bible says that Samuel was grieved. The Bible says he was crying out to God in his house, he was devastated by the fumbling of the football as it were. Because the truth of the matter is this kingship was supposed to usher in a move. It was working at first, Saul blew it. There’s a revival, if you will, trying to happen. And it’s not going to get there because Saul is blowing it and Samuel can’t make it stop. And he’s crying out to the Lord in a place of disappointment, but it is there that God said, “How long will you grieve over Saul since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse, the Bethlehemite for I have selected a king for myself among his sons.”

Through my life, I have seen people that were disappointed with the way the last revival turned out, so they’re totally locked down in disappointment about the next one. And they miss it. What you don’t understand, friend is, while you are crying about Saul, David is waiting in the shepherd fields, waiting to be initiated, inaugurated, launched into what’s about to happen, and David ushers in an unbelievable revival in the nation of Israel, there was never another king like him. While you’re worried about how the last season didn’t work out like you wanted it to, God has a man after his own heart, God has something designated for the next season that’s going to be so powerful. I want to encourage you, friend, dry the tears of your disappointment. Forgive who you need to forgive. You’ve got to process that with the Lord in the secret place, you can pour it out to Him, but dry it up, get up and let’s move on, because God has David in the shepherd field, waiting for the anointing, waiting to move forward.

I just want to take a moment and pray for you. Nathan, pray with me. We’re going to pray. Father, in the Name of Jesus, I break the power of  disappointment off your people. Lord, we know that you have a move coming in these last days. We know that David is in the shepherd field, ready to go. So Father, I ask you right now, break the power of the disappointment of Saul off your people. Lord, I pray right now that the grief of it, the grief of hurt and betrayal, that you would break it off of us in the Name of Jesus so that we can move forward with the anointing, so that we can move forward with the cloud of your glory. We ask it in the Mighty Name of Jesus.  Heal every heart, heal every heart, heal every wound so that we can move forward into all that you have for us, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
