Begin to pull those promises from His Word and declare them over yourself, and make this a daily practice.

I want to take some time to read Proverbs 18:21. It says, “The tongue can bring death or life. Those who love to talk will reap the consequences.”  Oftentimes, we think of that verse and we think, you know, am I speaking life or death over people, over ministries, over different areas? But are you speaking life or death over yourself? What is the conversation that you are having with yourself?

You know, I think we hold ourselves to such a high standard of how we speak towards other people, but when it comes to ourselves and the self-talk and the conversation that’s happening in our own head, we can sometimes kind of dismiss that.

And so I really want to call us to a place of, “Am I speaking life or death over myself? What am I declaring over myself? What am I believing over myself?”  And if you don’t have anything positive to say about yourself, start with the Word of God. Begin to look up scriptures where the Lord is speaking things over you. Begin to pull those promises from His Word and declare them over yourself, and make this a daily practice. You know, it’s like we love to be encouraged by other people, but it’s amazing that we can encourage ourselves.

There was a season in my life where I’ve posted sticky notes all over my mirror of just the promises of God over my life, affirmations, declaring God’s truth over my life. And so that way you can come into alignment with life and not death. And so I bless you to speak life, to partner with life and not death over yourself. In Jesus’ name, amen.
