Welcome viewers of God Today, my name is Harvey Katz. I’m here to share a little meditation with you from the Book of Genesis Chapter 17 starting in verse 1. “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will multiply you exceedingly.’ Then Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, ‘As for me, belold, my covenant is with you: You will be the father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you, and I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant to be God to you and your descendants after you.”

What a wonderful promise we have. Abraham is called the father of faith, not only of the Jewish people where I come from, but he is also the father of faith of all believers in Jesus Christ that have been adopted into the covenant of Abraham. It says it right here and confirmed in Romans chapters 4 and 5.

So here we see this wonderful promise. What was the significance of Abraham? Abraham was childless and Abraham had a message, that through faith, God could transform his life and make him something that he couldn’t do on his own. And that’s the promise that we see in Abraham today. If we put our faith in Jesus Christ, just like Abraham who is our spiritual father, as we trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, we can become proof of how God can take our life and give it significance.

So let’s pray. Father God, we thank you that Abraham was such a great example of trusting you. And in trusting you made him great in the earth. You took a man who was childless and made him the father of many nations. We’re here today because of his faithfulness to you. And Father, in the same way, Lord, we put our trust in you today through Jesus Christ that we may be fruitful. Bless every hearer today, Lord, and make them fruitful. Bring encouragement to them and know that you have a good plan for them. And I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
