I am Coach Tom Mullins and welcome to God Today. Have you ever noticed how when someone walks into a room, how oftentimes people will lean into them or sometimes even lean back from them? Have you noticed that?
A lot has to do with the tone of that person’s life. We are called by God to be the light of the world, Jesus said, that men will see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven. In other words, when we walk into a room, people should be leaning into us. How does that happen? Let me give you one thought today. It comes from the way we speak to others. It comes from the point of, are we a person that speaks life over people? Are we an encouragement to others? Jesus was called by Jairus to come to his house because his daughter was dying.
As a matter of fact, on the way to the house, the word came that the daughter had already passed. And it was too late. But Jesus walked into the room and He spoke over her. “Talitha koum.” That is Arabic for, “Little girl, rise up.” And she came back to life because Jesus was the one who would always speak life.
Today, as we go about our daily work and business and school, we ought to be looking for ways to speak life over people. We are not going to go up to them and say, “Talitha koum,” they’ll think we are crazy with that. But I wanted you to hear those Arabic words of Christ because they are words that speak life. Call people up to the next level.
I want to challenge you. Let the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart be pleasing to God today. And you will win favor, not only with God, but you will also win favor with man. And remember, we are called to be the light of the world. The light of the world attracts. Light attracts. We are attracting them to our lives so we can point them to the light that will transform them, which is Jesus.
Let’s pray. Father, help us to be the light today. Help us to be men and women of encouragement today. And may the words of our mouth be acceptable and pleasing to you as we encourage others. Amen.
