Hi, friend. My name is Lydia Marrow and I serve at Shake The Nations Ministries. I want to welcome you to this edition of God Today. We are so glad you tuned in. I want to read you this verse that Paul wrote in the book of Ephesians, chapter 4. Verses 1 through 3 says, “Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called. With all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love. Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bonds of peace.”
How important it is for us today, friend, to walk worthy of the calling that Jesus has called us with. You know, we have been chosen to walk in holiness, to walk in humility, and gentleness and patience, making room for each other to make mistakes. Giving each other the benefit of the doubt. God has called us out to be his very own people. You know, He has called us to literally demonstrate who He is to everyone around us.
You know, one of the first tricks that the enemy uses to pull us off of that path is disunity. That’s why Paul said you have to walk with gentleness and humility and tolerance for each other. Because one of the first things the enemy wants us to do is to divide us. To get us bickering amongst ourselves as the body of Christ. To get us to talk about one another. Friend, do not fall for that. We’ve been called to walk higher than that. To keep ourselves from letting offense and hurt get in the way.
Friend, we’ve all been hurt in church. Nobody was more hurt in church than Jesus Christ and He still shows up. So I want to encourage you today. Let the offenses of the past go, and let’s walk higher than that. Let’s walk above the places of offense and hurt and misunderstanding.
So let’s pray right now. Father we bring to you right now every offense we’ve got. Every time we’ve ever been hurt by somebody. One of your sons, one of your daughters, or even someone in the world. We bring it to you. We ask you to heal our hearts and we release forgiveness to our brothers and sisters in Christ right now no matter what’s going on. Father, help us to walk in unity and love and gentleness and humility. That we can serve you better and demonstrate who you are to this world around us.”
