I felt the Father come up behind me and He embraced me from behind and said, “I’ve got your back."

Welcome to God Today.  My name is Terry Tyson.  I am with a new business called, partneringwithfather.com. Today we are looking at one of my favorite subjects; it’s leaving our past and the hurt of it and stepping into our future that is partnering with the Father.

When I was a small boy, my father was diagnosed with bone cancer when I was two years old.  The doctors gave him 6 months to live.  He lived for 4 years.  He died when I was 6.  So I got to know him as a son between 2 and 6.  I have great memories of him.  And I remember the day, like yesterday, the day that the phone call came from my mom at the hospital.  I was over at my aunt’s and she called me, I was outside playing, and I walked up to the porch.  It was in the days they had one of those phones with the long extended cord on it, and she pulled the cord out on the porch and handed it to me and my mom was on the other end.  She told me that my father had passed away.  But I was numb.  I couldn’t even respond, I already had shut down days earlier.

And I was praying through this situation again not long ago.  I asked the Lord, “Where were you that day when I got that phone call?”  I was expecting Jesus to show me where He was, but He didn’t come.  That was unusual because I’ve watched Him come over and over in these situations.  And all of a sudden I felt the Father come up behind me and He embraced me from behind and said, “I’ve got your back.”

And so, one of those deep longings in me of needing a father that had my back was fulfilled and another level of healing set in. So, Father, I ask in Jesus’ name that you would go to those that maybe have missed their father, lost their father, or their fathers even died.  Or they had an absentee father.  I ask you to come up behind them and have your place of hugging them and having their back.  Father, I thank you that you’re the one who has our back, that you’re with us.  Amen.
